Scam Messages Claiming to Be from Build+ or Wahl+Case

We’ve confirmed that some individuals have received fraudulent messages claiming to be from Wahl+Case or Wahl & Case (now Build+) recruiters.
These messages typically:

  • Use our company name or the name of a supposed recruiter

  • Describe vague job opportunities

  • Encourage recipients to respond quickly or contact a LINE ID or other messaging account for more details

The content and details may vary, but all such messages share one thing in common:
they did not come from Build Plus.

Example Case:

One reported message claimed to be from a recruiter named “Miki Watanabe” at Wahl & Case and offered a “data architect” position.
It described a simple remote job with daily pay between 20,000 – 30,000 yen and asked the recipient to contact a LINE ID (hlz13) for more information.
This message originated from a non-Japanese phone number (+212) and was not sent by anyone at Build Plus.

If you receive a similar message — do not reply, share personal information, or click any links.

How to Recognize Legitimate Contact from Build+

We care deeply about your privacy and safety.
To help you verify, please note that Build+ only contacts candidates through the following official channels:

  • Company email addresses

    • All legitimate recruitment emails will come from an official @buildplus.io domain
All our emails have the following format:

      • firstname@buildplus.io

      • firstname.lastname@buildplus.io

    • We do not use free email domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook

  • Verified LinkedIn accounts

    • You can confirm legitimacy by checking the recruiter’s Workplace Verification section on their LinkedIn profile. It will show one of the following or both:

      • Workplace
Build+ (formerly Wahl+Case): Verified using work email

      • Workplace

Build+ (formerly Wahl+Case): Verified using LinkedIn Recruiter license

We never:

  • Use LINE, WhatsApp, or other messaging apps for initial outreach

    • We may message you on these apps, but only after you have shared your contact details with us directly as part of an active recruitment process.

  • Contact candidates from non-Japanese phone numbers

    • All legitimate Build Plus calls and messages will come from Japanese phone numbers (+81).
